Learn about the challenges of translating global public health policy to engage diverse audiences on multidisciplinary global public health issues.
This two-hour workshop is for translators with or without a background in medical translation who would like to better understand the terminology, standards, and resources necessary to translate global public health policy and resources for intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and national and local health systems.

This workshop will present real-life examples and related resources focusing on translation between English and Romance languages (specifically, French, Italian, and Spanish).

Who is this course for?
Translators with a background in medical translation or generalists interested in breaking into translation and editing work for IGOs and other global public health clients.
Erin M. Lyons is a full-time French/Italian/Spanish/Swedish/Arabic (Levantine) to English translator, medical writer, and consultant and the owner of BiomedNouvelle. She is ATA-certified (Italian to English) and an Irish Translators’ and Interpreters’ Association (ITIA) Professional Member. Her primary areas of focus include clinical research, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetic products.
Erin has split her professional career between Europe, the Middle East, and the U.S. She holds a BA in Romance Languages and Literature from the University of Chicago, an MA in Italian and French Translation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and an MA in Middle East Diplomacy from SOAS University of London. She has presented at several ATA annual conferences and FIT World Conferences, as well as taught translation at the BA and MA level in the U.S., Sweden, and France. Her publications on medical translation can also be found in the ATA Chronicle.
