This 150-minute webinar is for court, conference, and medical interpreters who want to successfully prepare for (and hopefully pass on the first try!) any type of interpreting exam.
As an interpreter, credentials are important; certification is even required to work in some interpreting markets. Many interpreters fail high-stakes exams for various reasons: not understanding what skills are tested during the exam, not preparing enough or in the right ways, or making avoidable mistakes on the day of the exam. In this webinar, we will first look at why so many interpreters fail exams, then at how to create a training plan for a court, conference, or medical interpreting exam, then at how to set yourself up for success on exam day. We will wrap up by actually practicing some of these exam prep techniques.

Corinne McKay is an ATA-certified French to English translator, a Colorado court-certified French interpreter, and holds a Master of Conference Interpreting from Glendon College. She also served as President of the American Translators Association from 2017-2019, and is the author of "How to Succeed as a Freelance Translator," a how-to guide for the language professions with over 15,000 copies in print. This class is based on Corinne's experience preparing for and passing (on the first try!) three sets of high-stakes interpreting exams.
