At the end of training program, you will be familiar with the code of ethics and best practices within the language services industry. You will understand how to build translation competences, conduct research, and expand your ever-growing terminology base. You will have comprehensive knowledge of various fields of translation including legal, medical, advertising, business communications, technical communications, etc. Lastly, you will have a fundamental understanding on how to build a freelance translation business.

 

The Course consists of 90 Instructional Hours and takes most students approximately 3 months to complete.

MCIS (Multilingual Community Interpreter Services) is the largest trainer and tester of language professionals in Canada, and trains over 375 linguists annually through a combination of e-learning and in-person training sessions. Participation in ProZ.com & MCIS Online Translator Training Program includes:

  • Access to the Online Translator Training Program for 3 months

  • Pre-assessment test

  • Post-Training Assessment in both source & target language

The total time for the Pre-Assessment Test or Skills Evaluation is 2 hours. To pass this test, applicants have to pass each section individually with a minimum of 70%. Click here to download a PDF File for more details.

Access extension is available upon request and costs $60 USD per month. Contact the ProZ.com Support center at https://www.proz.com/support to proceed with the request. Warning: a student may have access to the course no more than 1 year in total (including extensions).

IMPORTANT: The course cannot be done on a mobile phone or iPad, therefore there is no app to install.

If you fail the Pre-Assessment training you will be provided a full refund.

All students are required to take a Pre-Assessment test confirming their English comprehension & reading skill.  Students have two attempts to pass the Pre-Assessment test.

The course is language neutral, but the content is delivered in English.  Students that do not pass the Pre-Assessment test will likely struggle with the material and certification.  Click here for more information on the Pre-Assessment training and the grading rubric.

As a general rule, we recommend that candidates are at a level of CEFR B2 and higher. Taking the screening is a good way to find out if one’s level of English is sufficient for taking the course. They have two attempts to pass the test, by the way.
